Our Story
BLVCK In Tech was born out of frustration, exhaustion, and a refusal to keep waiting for the tech industry to make room for those historically excluded. Our founder, a Black woman with over a decade of experience navigating corporate spaces, grew tired of watching talented, brilliant Black professionals get shut out of opportunities. Not because of a lack of skill but because of deeply rooted systemic racism, gatekeeping, and cultural erasure. After years of being “the only one in the room,” she knew the solution wasn’t just individual success. It was building collective power.
In 2023, BLVCK In Tech launched as a direct response to these barriers, creating space for Black people to gather, organize, and reclaim ownership over our futures in STEM. What started as a small, local network has grown into a movement centered on community care, radical access, and economic liberation. Our founder remains deeply involved, leading with a vision to dismantle the systems that keep us out and replace them with ones designed by us, for us.
